Tuscola County Deceased Veterans Memorial List
| What is it? |
It is a Memorial, a database consisting of the names of all deceased veterans from Tuscola County Michigan. The TCDVM Project Committee maintains the database. Those men and women who served in the Armed Forces and lived in Tuscola County, or who otherwise had connections with the County, are honored for their service. The list has grown to over 5000 records the past six years. In May of each year a display is setup at a public venue. |
| What is its purpose? |
It is a way to acknowledge the national service of men and women who contributed to our society, our culture, and our way of life.
|
| Who started it? |
Ed Jagosz, Past Commander American Legion Post 7 (2002~2003) thought of the idea to honor deceased veterans, in 2001. He contacted several VSO's in the area, e.g. Caro VFW, Caro American Legion, Mayville American Legion and VFW, Kingston AMVETS and et al. He requested these organizations submit names from their area for the database.
|
| How is data collected? |
Anyone may submit a name of a deceased veteran. There is a form on this site you can use. The form is e-mailed to the maintainer of the database. Six categories are listed on the form, i.e. name, conflict, Purple Heart (yes/no), Branch of Service, Cemetery, VSO Member (e.g. VFW, American Legion, DAV, AMVETS etc.). However, the name and one additional piece of information is the minimum requirement. Any story of the veteran circumstance would be helpful.

The project is ongoing and will grow as more names are added. The project committee will gladly collect the
information and add it to the database and for the next year's display. Contacts for the Project are:
Ed Jagosz 989 673-8226, Don Lotter 989 683-2537, Arlene Robinson 989 673-0261, John Engels 989 871-9543 Rita Easlick 989 683-2884.
This Project is privately funded as a public service for the citizens of Tuscola County Michigan.
Its on-going success depends upon donations and support from people who believe this effort is a
worthy benefit for future generations.
Please submit your data by March 31st so I will have time to compile it for the coming May display.
